How it works

What happens to each sheet
A spreadsheet has no pages until it is printed, so the converter behaves like a print job. LibreOffice opens your file on our server and prints every sheet to PDF using the print settings stored in the workbook: paper size, orientation, margins, print area, scaling and repeated header rows.
Sheets are written one after another, so the PDF starts with the first sheet's pages and continues with the next sheet. A sheet wider than a single page is split across several pages, in the same way it would be if you printed it.
Your file is uploaded over HTTPS, processed in a private temporary folder and deleted automatically once the PDF has been delivered.

Setting up a sheet before you convert
Because the PDF follows print settings, five minutes in the spreadsheet saves surprises afterwards. In Excel, use Page Layout to choose landscape for wide tables, define a print area so helper columns are left out, and set scaling to fit all columns on one page wide. In LibreOffice Calc the same options live under Format, Page Style.
Repeating the header row at the top of every page keeps long tables readable across pages, and a manual page break lets you decide where one section ends and the next begins instead of leaving the split to chance.
- Set orientation to landscape for tables with more than six or seven columns.
- Choose fit to one page wide, and leave the height automatic for long lists.
- Repeat the title row so every page shows the column headings.

Good to know
- Wide sheets are split across several pages unless you set a print area or fit-to-width scaling in your spreadsheet first.
- A CSV file carries no print settings, so a file with many columns will be split across pages using default settings.
- Fonts that are not installed on the server are substituted, which can change column text width and page breaks slightly.
- Charts, conditional formatting and unusual cell styles may not look identical to the version you see in Excel.
- The file is uploaded to our server for conversion; use a browser-based tool if a file must never be transmitted.
Processed temporarily on our server
This conversion needs server-side software. Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, converted in a private temporary folder, returned to you, and then deleted immediately. Files are also deleted if the job fails, times out or is cancelled, and a cleanup task removes anything left after 20 minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Is my spreadsheet uploaded to a server?
Yes. Conversion is done by LibreOffice on our server, so the file is uploaded over HTTPS, processed temporarily and deleted automatically after the PDF is delivered.
Why is my wide spreadsheet split across several pages?
Because the sheet is wider than the page size in its print settings. Set the print area, choose landscape or fit-to-width in your spreadsheet, save it, and convert again.
Are all sheets of the workbook converted?
Yes, every sheet is exported, one after another, into the same PDF. If you only want one, delete or hide the others in your spreadsheet before converting.
Will formulas and hidden data be included in the PDF?
No. The PDF contains the displayed values, as printed. Formulas are not included, although cells you have not hidden and that fall in the print area will appear.
Can I convert a CSV file?
Yes. A CSV converts as a single sheet with default page settings, so wide files may break across pages. Opening the CSV in a spreadsheet and adjusting the layout first gives a tidier PDF.
