Find and remove blank pages from a PDF
The tool measures how much ink each page contains and flags the nearly empty ones. You review the flagged pages, override any mistakes, then save a cleaned copy.
- Files never leave your browser.
- No account needed
- No watermark added
- Works on any device
How it works
Step 1: Choose the PDF to clean up and wait for the pages to be analysed.
Step 2: Adjust the sensitivity until the flagged pages look right.
Step 3: Review the flagged pages and override any that should stay or go.
Step 4: Remove the flagged pages and download the cleaned PDF.
How blank pages are detected
Each page is rendered at low resolution and the tool measures how much of it is covered by ink or other content. Pages that fall below a sensitivity threshold are flagged as blank. The low-resolution render is used only for that measurement.
The sensitivity setting decides how strict the test is. A low setting flags only pages that are truly empty, while a higher one also catches pages with a faint mark. Nothing is removed until you have looked at the flagged pages, and you can override the result page by page before you save.
Why use this tool
You confirm every removal
Flagged pages are suggestions, not decisions. You see them first and can correct any page before the file is saved.
Adjustable for clean or noisy files
A slider lets you tighten the test for tidy exports or loosen it for scans that carry a little visual noise.
Fewer wasted sheets
Dropping empty pages shortens the document and saves paper when you print it.
Analysed in your browser
Rendering and measuring happen on your device, so private scans are not uploaded anywhere.
Common uses
Double-sided scans on a single-sided workflow
A sheet-fed scanner set to duplex produces a blank back for every single-sided sheet. Strip them out before filing the document.
Stray page at the end of an export
A word processor or layout program sometimes leaves an empty last page after a table or a page break. Find it and remove it.
Separator sheets in a batch scan
Archives scanned in one run often contain a blank sheet between every document. Remove them before splitting the file.
Saving paper before a print run
Clean a long report of accidental empty pages before printing it, so nothing comes out of the printer as a wasted sheet.
Tidying a bundle before numbering
Remove empty pages first, then use Add Page Numbers so the final sequence has no gaps.
Choosing the right sensitivity
A PDF exported from a word processor has pages that are genuinely empty, so a low sensitivity finds them without false alarms. Scans behave differently: the back of a sheet still has paper texture, edge shadows and sometimes show-through from the other side, and the measurement counts all of that as content.
That is why the setting is adjustable and the review step exists. The goal is not to find a perfect number but to see which pages change status as you move the slider.
- Start low, then raise the sensitivity step by step and watch which extra pages get flagged.
- Expect pages with only a footer, a page number or an intentionally-blank notice to appear at high settings; keep them if you need them.
- If a noisy scan is never flagged, remove those pages by hand with Delete PDF Pages instead.
Supported formats
- Input
- One PDF file (.pdf), not password-protected. Text-based and scanned PDFs both work.
- Output
- One PDF file without the pages you confirmed for removal.
Your original file is not changed; a cleaned copy is downloaded.
Good to know
- Scanned pages with dust, shadows, noise or faint stains may not be detected as blank.
- At high sensitivity, near-blank pages that carry only a small footer or page number can be flagged, so always check the list.
- Very light marks, such as pale pencil, may look blank in the low-resolution measurement.
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.
Your files never leave your browser
This tool runs entirely on your device using your browser. Your files are not uploaded to our servers and are not stored anywhere. Closing the tab discards everything.
Frequently asked questions
How does the tool decide that a page is blank?
It renders each page at low resolution and measures how much of it contains ink. Pages below your sensitivity threshold are flagged as blank.
Will it delete pages without asking me?
No. It flags candidates and shows them to you. Pages are removed only after you review the list, and you can override any page.
Why was my blank scanned page not detected?
Scans often contain noise, shadows, dust or faint stains that count as content. Raise the sensitivity, or select the page yourself and use Delete PDF Pages.
Can a page with only a page number be flagged as blank?
It can, at high sensitivity, because such a page contains very little ink. Review the flagged list before removing anything.
Does a scanned PDF need OCR before I remove blank pages?
No. Detection works on how much of the page is covered, not on recognized text, so OCR PDF is not needed first.
Is my PDF uploaded while it is being analysed?
No. Pages are rendered and measured in your browser, so the file stays on your device.
