Why choose PNG for a PDF page
PNG stores every pixel exactly as drawn, with no quality setting to worry about. The tool renders each selected page with PDF.js at the DPI you choose and saves the result as a PNG, so edges of letters, table borders and thin chart lines stay clean instead of collecting the smudges that lossy formats can add.
The price is size. A page full of gradients or photographs can produce a PNG several times larger than the same page as a JPG, while a page of black text on white compresses well. If the content is mainly photographic, PDF to JPG usually gives a far smaller file.
This is rendering, not extracting: the text becomes pixels and can no longer be selected. Conversion happens on your device and the PDF is not uploaded.

PNG or JPG for a PDF page?
Match the format to what the page contains. Pages made of text, lines, tables, logos and flat colors are what PNG is good at: they stay crisp and the file is often small because large areas of identical color compress well. Pages dominated by photographs are better as JPG, where a slightly lossy file is visually the same and much lighter.
For a page with both, such as a report with a photo and a chart, decide by what matters more. Choose PNG when the chart must stay perfectly sharp, and JPG when you need to keep the whole set of images small enough to email.

Good to know
- PNG files of photo-heavy or high-DPI pages can be very large; use PDF to JPG if size matters more than exact pixels.
- Text in the images cannot be selected or searched; use OCR PDF if you need a text layer.
- Very large pages at a high DPI can exceed the browser's canvas limits; the tool warns you and you should lower the resolution.
- Files above 200 MB and PDFs above 2,000 pages are refused, and password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.

Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded when I convert it to PNG?
No. Your browser reads the PDF and draws each page, so the file never leaves your device. There is no upload and no account.
Why is the PNG larger than a JPG of the same page?
Because PNG keeps every pixel without loss, and photographs or gradients contain a great deal of pixel detail. Text pages stay small, but image-heavy pages grow quickly.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF to PNG?
Not directly. Unlock it first with Unlock PDF (you need to know the password), then convert the unlocked copy.
Which DPI is best for PNG?
150 DPI suits most screens and documents. Use 200 or 300 DPI when you will zoom in, print or edit the image, and 72 DPI for small previews.
Can I convert several pages at once?
Yes. Choose all pages or a range and the images are bundled into a single ZIP. A single page downloads as one PNG.
